Comedy Clubs in Florida
Consider comedy the next time you’re searching for a unique evening experience. Florida has some of the greatest comedy clubs in the country, with several of them attracting national performers. Florida’s comedy venues can accommodate your demands, whether you want to see stand-up in intimate settings, crazy improv, or establish your own side-splitting performance.
Bonkerz, Daytona Beach
Attend a show at Bonkerz Comedy Club to witness classic stand-up. For three decades, Rita Rudner, Jerry Seinfeld, and Paula Poundstone have graced the stage of this Orlando-based company, which has two dozen sites nationally, including six in Florida. They are among America’s oldest comedy clubs, having won “Best Comedy Club” awards in locations such as Orlando and Las Vegas. It’s simple to understand because it is one of Florida’s top comedy clubs.
Off the Hook Comedy Club, Naples
The Off the Hook Comedy Club at Capt. Brien’s Seafood and Raw Bar in Marco Island is another outstanding classic stand-up stage. The club is on Improv’s comedy circuit, which means that top performers touring large cities such as Atlanta, Tampa, and Orlando take a weekend stop in Naples as one of their tours of Florida comedy clubs. Pauly Shore, Andrew Dice Clay, Gallagher, Jackie Mason, and Jimmie J.J. Walker has all performed in the past. Show up to dine at the restaurant even before the concert, then yuk it up with a few of your new closest friends.
Coconuts, St. Pete Beach
Take a break from the beach to see a concert at Coconuts Comedy Club in St. Pete Beach. This is a tiny (yet intimate) venue that attracts high-end artists. When I was there, I ran across Chicago’s Nick Gaza, who has been labeled the “laziest comic in America.” His show combines hysterical factual tales with audience involvement (read, poking fun at the audience and himself). Nick has appeared on “The Drew Carey Show,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” and “Becker,” among other shows. The club is Florida’s earliest comedy club.
